Graduating with a degree from the University of YouTube and Facebook!

I am really tired of people coming here trying to spend the least amount of effort in learning our craft. I have had this on my mind for a long time. Sorry if this offends anybody and that wasn’t my intention.

The best thing to do is to simply ignore questions posted by someone who you do not feel has a geniune interest in formulating, but is just looking for a quick answer. Answering questions is completely at your discretion.

Actually I agree with you .
I too realized that people just look at YouTube and try here and there and feel they are formulator all of a sudden. And on the other hand we take trouble in getting that degree.
It just not right. -
I agree with @MarkBroussard. I see SO many questions in the Forum which I know the answer to, but I don’t answer if I think they are looking for a quick solution rather than seeking to learn about the topic more in-depth.Also, in the past 3 months I have gotten so many (>30) in-box messages requesting free help. Please keep in mind that for most of us, this is work product.

I have gotten your help plenty of times and have been most grateful. I am taking a different POV based on my experience. I am POC that has had to deal with alot of stubborn, tackless and nasty behaviors from scientists who didn’t want share or help a promising young person out of college trying to learn this craft. Resources like this were not plentiful and working with stereotypes especially with international people was challenging. With information so freely available to all the scavengers out here it doesn’t seem so fair they can ask my peers for info when I had to struggle to even be in the same space. I am still having to work with folks that think I was just given my position. Its not merely ignore the questions from these scavengers its about if they are so interested then put the time in the learning to develop a skillset. For me this is my life as it is yours. We are novelty folks. If want a get rich quick thing then pay for the service. -
Stanley, look at it from this perspective: This is an open forum … anyone can join and ask whatever questions they are seeking answers to and anyone can provide answers. You can’t control that. Some professionals in the forum take pride in answering as many questions as they can. Others, like me, answer primarily if the poster seems to be sincere in their quest to learn more and I feel like sharing information with them.
What you can control is whether or not, or how much, of your years of hard work studying, working in the lab perfecting your craft, you are willing to share with posters. Lots of time you can actually learn new things from the questions posted by novices because you have not thought about it that way or had not encountered that particular problem or someone has made you aware of an ingredient that you had not heard of before. So, my perspective is that there is something that can be learned from both professionals and novices on this forum.
Simple fact of life: You don’t necessarily have to be a trained chemist to be successful in the personal care business.
I think Perry can probably guide you to a couple of paid forums that are for chemists and industry professionals only.

@Stanley I think your post is a bit mean. Not everyone has the opportunity to undertake a chemistry degree at university. I am self-taught. I had no intention ever of becoming a formulator. However, I was messed about so much by formulators here in Australia. I lost thousands of dollars, not to mention valuable time. In the end, I had no choice but to make the products myself.
I couldn’t have done what I’ve done without the help and advice from the kind people on this forum. Now I try to post where I can to help others.
Please don’t exclude us. -

Please don’t exclude us.I totally agree with this statement !
With the start of covid ,losing a job to old for other jobs and having a entrepreneurs state of mind and mentality that you are never to old to taught yourself something I started my journey.
I always had interest in cosmetics and skincare but as so many of us I wasn’t in the position to make a choice!
Now when I’m 50 I want to make myself a better person than I was and follow my dream.
Yes I still have a lot to learn and study and this forum is a great help!!! I think if people read better the forum rules where it clearly says try to find the answer first yourself on internet.
Let keeps this forum nice and polite there is enough “social” media where people don’t like eachother and are not be able to help.
No one say that you have to read or to answer any question that is placed here
