  • Solubilizing Essential Oils in Alcohol - PLEASE HELP!

    Posted by Alex777 on February 18, 2020 at 1:40 am

    Hello Everyone!

    I am trying to solubilize essential oils in alcohol.

    2 grams of essential oils are being used + 0.5g of menthol crystals.

    This is being solubilized in 95g of Everclear alcohol (95% ethanol).

    The results are great, however, once you add a bit of water to the solution you can see oil bubbles on the surface.

    How can I add water to the solution without the essential oils separating from the alcohol?

    Any feedback will be greatly appreciated!

    Thank you!

    I think you need a “carrier” for the essential oils. You need a solubilizer, try PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil.

    @paoloferino

    Thank you for your thoughts!

    Is there any other more “natural” way of getting this done?

    This is unrelated, but may I ask what kind of product you are making?

    Thank you for your input.

    Would Quillaja saponaria work to dissolve essential oils in water?

    If so, can you please provide an approximate use percentage?

    Thanks again
