  • Neutralise liquid soap by acid ciitric

Posted by Myrobinson on June 29, 2017 at 8:31 am

Hi every one, i got one problem with liquid soap making. My saponification reaction start with KOH and fatty acid (myristic and stearic). After the reaction was done, i add surfactan gel (include sodium laureth sulfat + cocamidolpropyl betain + NaCl) + propylen glycol (for defoaming while stiring). But my final product always contain enormous amount of tiny foam inside the structure. Can anyone have any suggestion? Thanks

It seem the ph is too high and the sanctification reaction is not completed. How did you proceed the sanctification?  How long time it took at what temperature and have you checked the ph value just before adding surfactan  and the remaining components?

it took 1 hour, and the pH before adding surfactan was 11, temperture was 15oC. I attempt to neutralise the soap after all by acid citric. Is is a right order?

You cannot use citric acid, it will separate into free fatty acids and byproducts.

you can use citric acid just do not go below 9.5-10PH—-If you want to superfat the soap use stearic acid to PH 8-8.5
