  W/O formula

  Hi
  I’m planning to do a W/O cream but I want to get some inputs before starting it because i hate wasting my materials. I work on my own cost. 
  Can anyone please help?

  Here is my planned formula so far. It needs to be in a thick consistency
  2% Glyceryl  Stearate
  2% Sorbitan Stearate
  4% Polyglyceryl-4 oleate
  2% Lanolin Alcohol

  10% Palm Oil
  4% Cocoa Butter
  6% Avocado Oil
  Thinking about shea butter but really do a lot of ppl are allergic to shea?
  1% C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate
  Thinking about 2% beeswax or thicken?

  50% Water
  6% Glycerin
  0.2% Tetrasodium EDTA

  4-6% Butylene Glycol

  1.5% Optiphen Plus
  1% Caprylyl glycol, ethylhexylglycerin

  will get testing by Cosmetic Test Labs.  Just called and I’m waiting for their quote now.

  Sandy, I will predict this will turn out as either an amorphous mess, or into a o/w emulsion. I don’t see this resulting in an inverse phase system.  Lanolin alcohol is a powerful emulsifier all by itself (see every Nivea Cream ever made), but will revert on cooling from w/o to o/w, depending on the oil load. Why can’t you use one of the many nifty alkyl-modified silicone w/o emulsifiers, e.g. Abil EM-90, DC5225-C? Is it because you can’t have any “unseemly” ingredients in your label listing?

  I’m not against silicone at all. I’m new to this and this would be my first experiments in w/o.

  Yes I prefer the blue tin Nivea w/o texture.

  Besides makingcosmectics.com where else can I get w/o emulsifiers? Thanks

  If I add epsom salt like 0.5% would it help? or more wax?

  I also got PEG-8 Dimethicone and

  PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil

  If you want to prepare Si/w (Silicon in water) type then use PEG-10 dimethicone in combination with Sucrose distearate & if it is just simple w/o then use PEG-30 DIPOLYHYDROXYSTEARATE
  as a w/o emulsifier.

  You need to start out simpler. Try Dow Corning EL-7040 Hydro Elastomer Blend, add water and preservatives.
