How would you compose a SPF >=30 Spray-on mineral based sunscreen? Si/W Suggestion inside!
First off would you do a O/W, W/O, Si/W, W/Si or an anhydrous Oil based formula? I’ve made a suggestion for a Si/W based formula below, leaving out methodology for now.
Percentages and composition are theoretical guesstimates at this stage and will certainly need changes to ensure proper sprayability, spreadability, skin feel and dispersion of the minerals w/o sedimentation.
10% Zinc Oxide (silicone coated) - Broad spectrum sunscreen
6% Titanium Dioxide (silicone coated) - Primarily UVA sunscreen
10% Cyclopentasiloxane - Light silicone for waterproofing, lubrication, dispersant
5% Dimethicone (and) Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer - thickener, water repellant5% Dimethicone /PEG-10/15 Crosspolymer - Water/Silicone emulsifier
3% Propylene Glycol - Freeze protection
1% Phenoxyethanol (and) Caprylyl Glycol (and) Sorbic Acid - Preservative
