    Hi…

I have tried out a hair styling gel using Carbopols and acrylates…but on evaluation the shine that it imparts to the hair strands is poor…I have tried DC 193 and 5330 for imparting shine but that makes my formulae turbid….any help???

Try a water dispersible silicone such as Silsense DW-18.

thanks for the suggestion ,will definitely try it but just a query…how is a water dispersible sillicone not going to make the system hazy..

Because it is perfectly miscible and forms a clear solution.

if it’s the genuine article, DC193 shouldn’t cause a gel to go cloudy like that; hell, in the past I’ve used it at 2% and not had any issues with clarity

I use PEG-8 Dimethicone. It adds shine and great sensory. I use it at 2% as well and the gel is clear, but it leaves a weird slick feeling film on hair. It also takes away the tacky feeling feeling that the gel leaves.
