  • oxidizing ? cream discoloration issue!!!

Posted by cherri on May 7, 2014 at 10:11 am

I have a cream using 20% active phase. It seems like the color is fading at elevated temperature.
My product is becoming more yellow getting thin layer on top and starts to develop more over time.
Is this due to oxidizing? Is there any way to prevent coloration? I added some sodium metabisulsife but not sure if this will work…

    Any help will be appreciated.

    Thank You!

The first thing without proper info that comes to mind is that the culprit is your perfume. Its a very blind perception though.

Some ingredients in preservatives can cause yellowing eg sorbic acid and dehydroacetic acid.

What is in your active phase, and what’s the formula for your base?
