Hello my name is Candace Norton and I am a cosmetic formulator. I have worked in the cosmetic industry for five years. I have a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and a master’s degree in pharmaceutical and cosmetic sciences. I have five years of experience working in a cosmetic laboratory setting and two years of experience working in a chemical manufacturing environment.

I have experience in the field of chemistry, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals, working with a number of products, ingredients, compounds, and active drugs. I have worked with an array of personal care products for cosmetic areas including but not limited to skin care, hair care, makeup, sun care, over the counter products and toiletries.

I have familiarized myself with essential cosmetic science instruments such as ultrasonic water baths, viscometers, and pH meters, as well as techniques such as reverse-phase high performance liquid chromatography, inductively coupled plasma mass spectroscopy and infrared spectroscopy.

Lastly, I have a fully operational R&D lab located in Tulsa, Oklahoma where I can develop and/or modify products, run needed specifications on them, and monitor their stability and compatibility.

I did the knockout protocol and it turns out that it was the ketoconazole reacting with the surfactants resulting in a dark pink color over time. But your thoughts are interesting and will keep them in mind if something like that happens in a future formulation.

I’m formulating this for a brand and they will decide where they are selling it and what steps need to be taken once we have a stable product. That is all I can say.
