  • Use dyes for coloration, no issue there. As for main formulation, I still would go with LABSA, SLES, salt, amine oxide; should get you there easy.

And thank you BILO for sharing your outcome.

  • Your formulation looks OK, why would you add Xanthan to it. Try optimizing it, surely you can get it thick. If you can get your hands on Amine Oxide, that should help you with viscosity and foam both.

Try changing order of addition and if it is a paste then as Dr. Bob suggested use a hydrotrope.

Dr. Bob do you think a hydrotrope would be suitable for a powder detergent? We generally advise SXS & SCS for liquid detergents where viscosity or solubility is an issue. Would appreciate your comments.

why glycerin, why no binder like CMC. Nothin looks out of sort here but you can do knock outs or replace Sodium Sulfate with STPP. Just a thought.

Presence of phosphonates is mentioned as one of the reasons for crystallization, what are other components here???

Start your formula with C-25 @25%, glycerin/pg combined at 15%, preservative, fragrance. You will get a clear and stable product, now you can do the reverse of knock out trials. Add one ingredient at a time and see how it behaves in the formula, mind that silicone or any other polymer like PVP is definitely going to affect the clarity of the solution.
    Good luck.

The silicone oil and PVP in there are going to cause turbidity, read my previous comment. The glycerin and PG content has to be between 10-15% minimum. Chuck out the cocoate also along with the silicone oil. Optmize PVP.

Ask your supplier to provide you Silicone compatible fragrances, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil won’t do the trick here. How much fragrance you are trying to add?? In my experience we never went beyond 0.3% in most of the formulas and we had to be careful with our fragrance choice.

Add upto 10-15% glycerine and propylene glycol combined to the batch and then process everything at not less than 85C.

Search this forum with Ceteareth-25 and you will get all the information. I remember a long discussion on this and few including me have posted almost complete formulation. The product you posted the picture of is what I developed too. And it has indeed more than 25% Ceteareth-25.

Other than the thread you mention here @Perry, insult and hostile words are very subjective. Let the person who feels so quote you the thread and if you feel that so is the case you either delete the comment or warn the member/s involved. Though you laid the rules for asking questions too yet there are queries which can be solved either by googling or searching this forum. Often times the members are put off by the lethargy of the person who cannot run simple search or there is a direct demand for a free commercial/professional opinion. Agreed that the replies should be more rounded but sometimes it just flies off the handle. Also I wouldn’t mind if someone points out a flaw in my post with a more friendly and explanatory clarification. If there is heat I would simply direct it to you to let you know such occurrence which pollutes the friendly fabric of this forum. At the end of the day if I do my maths, this forum provides more benefits and hardly a reason to bicker. I would also try to take it in my stride if there is hostility/negativity by either modifying my query/post or simply ignoring the sharp comments. If we are confident enough then no insult/degradation can bring us down and dampen the spirit of the member and this forum both.
You have done an immense effort by bringing together this ever increasing family, let’s all work together to protect the integrity and sanctity of this family which has members from every part of the world.
I am pretty sure more experienced members can chip in with better suggestions compared to my naive analysis above.

The ratio provided for neutralization by Lubrizol states 0.9g/1g of carbomer IIRC. Optimization is the key to formulate successfully while keeping such data in mind.

PQ10 is a cationic, also try knock out trials with PQ10 and your Aloe vera fragrance.

I use Methocel 40-202 and it is a foam modifier, I just add it in the beginning in my cold process shampoos. Clarity indeed has to be optimized with the right selection of the surfactants.

If you search this forum you will find the exact information you are looking for including the formulations. That’s why it’s always better to search the forum before posting the query.
