  • Why is Ethylhexyl Palmitate in every cleansing balm on the market?

I’m researching cleansing balms and noticed that Ethylhexyl Palmitate is used as the first ingredient in almost every commercial balm. Is there a reason this ingredient is used over other emollients, such as C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate?

@miss17february I guess both are good ingredient for cleansing blam may it is preferred versus alkyl benzoate c12_15 for economical reason.

I’ll second @Fekher: that is one of the least expensive and easily obtained esters, a virtual commodity item. You’ll see it used in massage oils too for same reason.

Thank you @chemicalmatt and @Fekher for the confirmation. I suspected that was the case.
