The rest is very regular Dove but the lauric acid part is confusing to me. What’s the new trick here?

Water (Eau), Lauric Acid, Sodium Lauroyl Isethionate, Sodium Methyl Lauroyl Taurate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Sodium Hydroxypropyl Starch Phosphate, Hydrogenated Soybean Oil, Sodium Chloride, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Fragrance (Parfum), Glycerin, Stearic Acid, Palmitic Acid, Hydrogenated Vegetable Glycerides, Glyceryl Stearate, Hydroxystearic Acid, Sodium Benzoate, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Capryloyl Glycine, Undecylenoyl Glycine, Citric Acid, Sodium Gluconate, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone, Benzyl Alcohol, Citronellol, Coumarin, Hexyl Cinnamal, Limonene, Linalool.

They use it because of the whole coconut hype i would guess

IN General, the Lauric acid which is a main part of coconut oil can penetrate the hair shaft and therefore “nourish” it.

I Would say it is not a very good concept most of it will be Rinsed off either way but maybe it makes the skin fell very well conditioned and not Squicke clean and that is something dove always targeted in my experience due to the whole Story of “Creme body wash” form 20 years ago.

This is what is called a spherulite cleanser system wherein the oils (note all that soybean oil) is encapsulated in liquid state by fatty acids in spherule vesicles. These reside suspended within the larger surfactant mixture where they will not affect foam or viscosity as they normally would. Lauric acid is the preferred medium, stearic a distant second. My curiosity here extends to the presence of hydroxystearic acid. That serves only to thicken lipids. The Unilever peeps must know something that I don’t have time for figuring out here, I guess.

Interesting! But why to encapsulate oils in a cleanser? Does it suppose to break down on skin during wash to nourish?

Affirmative. When you are using in the shower, this formula leaves behind an oil film on your body. Dimethicone works the best. You may have seen these advertised as “lotion body washes” and I seem to remember Unilever having patent rights way back when.
