Surfactant compatibility
I understand that cationic emulsifiers/thickeners are not compatible with salt. However, I have consulted some products, they have used them together.
For example: Hydroxyethylacrylate/Sodiumacryloyldimethyltaurate Copolymer, C10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer, Sodium Polyacrylate often appear together with sodium PCA, sodium lactate.
I have tried many times, but when added to the system, it will become unstable or loose. Is there any difference in their process or is the amount of salt added very little?

Cationic polymers and cationic surfactants react differently to the pressence of inorganic salts. For instance, negative ions would hinder expansion of cationic polymers, while emulsions based on cationic surfactants could experience an increase in phase transition in the presence of inorganic salts, but that depends on the system and the amount of salt. There are few papers on the topic. Just as a curiosity, I found yesterday a patent from UL for a conditioner, and they were using 0.2% of an inorganic salt.
