Some emulsion can become thicker over time, others get thinner. Still others are unchanged. You really haven’t provided enough information (such as the formula and ingredients) to give a more specific answer.

Here’s a rundown on my cream:

    A.Water-qs
    Glycerin-3
    Propylene Glycol-2
    TEA-1

    B.Cetyl Alcohol-1
    Cremophor A6-1
    Cremophor A25-2
    Glyceryl Stearate&PEG-100 Stearate-3
    Tegosoft DEC-6
    Amphisol K-1.5

    C. TSF 405-10
    Dimethicone-2
    SFE 839-5
    Suncat DE-1.5
    BTD 401-1
    Silica -2

    D. Polymethylsilsesquioxane-5
    Multisal Sebum Control-1
    Arbutin-0.2
    Niacinamide-0.5
    Euxyl PE-0.3
    Vit. E-1
    Color-0.3
    Fragrance-0.2

I just made one now and no matter how long I mix/stir it, it is not that thick (still flows … a little). The one I made last thursday (the same formula) is now thick with a very very minimal flow like you have to wait to see it flow.
