Question about the physics of a liquid and not so much the chemistry.
we have a thin spray that when we run it on our production line after 2-3 hours of continuous running it “jams” the filler and we have to replace the filling equipment. I don’t feel a texture difference (gums, grit, particles, etc). I was wondering is it possible the liquid to “expand” or slight heat to cause the clogging of the equipment.? -

@GoldenFish What I’ve seen clogging parts of filling equipment are remains of structuring agents (like fatty alcohols) that were not properly emulsified.

Thanks! this doesn’t have any fatty alcohols in it. I was thinking along the same line where there is something not completely dissolved. I have also thought of back pressure of sorts.

Where in the filling machine is it “jamming”? It could be that your product is drying out (losing water or solvent) during filling and gradually depositing inside the filling machine?

@ozgirl-that is actually a good point! we have a 4 head filler and it is jamming in the cylinoids or “drum” that fills up with product and pushed out.
