Currently, most soap bar makers use a formulation found on the internet, a bone-lazy approach that permanently relegates your soap bar to mediocrity.

I produced soap bars for 20+ years. At full production, we’re talking 1,000 bars/day.

But to begin with, there were no short-cuts. It took me one year to get my basic soap bar formulation right, and that does not include fragrance. That’s more work!!

Indeed, my aim was to produce the longest-lasting bar in the marketplace. Customers will pay premium prices for this type of value.

In fact, you will also be surprised to know that my basic soap bar formulation includes just two oils: coconut and palm oils. These two oils produce the best bars: coconut oil for lather and palm oil for hardness.

For the “palm oil-free” advocates. Yes, Certified RSPO palm oil is available.

The secret to getting the perfect soap bar with these two oils is the exact ratio of coconut to palm oil. This took me one year of experimentation.

And what are the myths? The title is not related to actual posts at all. It feels like another ad of your business.

      Hi @fareloz

As identified in my post, the bone-lazy approach of copying a soap formulation from the internert and expeting it to produce a good soap bar. And the myth of shortcuts. There aren’t any, I sorry.

Most soap bars are made using soft oils, and they will not last very long. And I explode the myth of palm oil. It’s an exccellent oil that adds hardness to the bar and extends it useage time. And yes, Certified RSPO palm oil is available.

      Are you a soap maker?

I also feel like Mike is just showing off. It is becoming a tad annoying (to me) to be frank.

Hi @Paprik Are you a soap maker? If not, then probably of no interest to you. And if you do make anything, it would be great if you could do a similar post exploding common myths surrounding the product type you are producing. I want to read it. I’m on a continual learning curve, yep, even in my mid-70s.

          Hi @mikethair ,

I’m not involved in soap making, but I wanted to acknowledge your impressive achievements. We genuinely admire your accomplishments and the knowledge you generously share with us. However, there’s a slight discomfort when it feels like you’re consistently highlighting your successes/company. While we value your contributions, perhaps toning down the self-promotion a bit would make the community even more enjoyable for everyone.

Of course, this is just my perspective, but I want to express gratitude for your valuable presence within our community. There’s no doubt that we can all benefit from your expertise and experiences.

And what business are you referring to @fareloz ? My company shut down last year and no longer exists.

Can i ask why are you not using specific fatty acids instead of a fresh and complete oil?

Many fatty acid types+ glycerin in a complete oil will reduce your foam and viscosity. That is my opinion.

      Hi @Abdullah

In our 20 years of manufacturing, we never had any issues with reduced foam. However, some oils we saponified produced more foam than others. For example, cocononut oil produced more foam than olive oil.

Have you experimented and done the comparison?

@mikethair @Abdullah @Paprik According to science and bibliography it is easy to know the carateristic of soap(foaming, detergency, rincidity, hardness…) without even need to make soap.
