working for free aluminum cream deo i try making this lol:

    water Qsp
    Zinc oxide 3-6 %

    sodium bicarbonate 5%

    fragrance 1%

    sensicare c1090 0.8%

    MPG 2%
    Emollients (CCT , C
yclopentasilixone, PPG 15 ethyl ether) 5%

    Ewax( gms , ceteareth 20) 3-6%

    cetearyl alcohol 3_6%

    EDTA 0.1 %

    ph = 9.64

Question 1: So i want to know what is the higher acceptable ph in cream deo ? because i already find an industriel one with ph=8.5 .
Question 2 : As prediction i got not smooth powder is it sodium zinc oxide?

For the project for sure i will not work with sodium bicarbonate just i wanted to make a try and watch .

Question 3 : Zinc oxide is soluble in acidic solution so if i fix ph at 4 will Zinc be effective as deodorant then it will not be recrystalise ?
Question 4 : best combinaition i reached for free aluminum deo : Zinc oxide with triethylcitrate in basic ph=8 . is it really effective triethyl citrate at ph=8 or it is just the effect of zinc oxide?

    Hello,

1: No idea here, as I prefer my deo’s pH to be ≤5
2: Same here, as I don’t use ZnO because I want to avoid any colour transfer on dark clothes

3&4: this article might shed some light https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9137363/

5: I wish I could be of more help, but still learning…

Sorry can’t help, as my skin is a bit more acidic than yours. 😉

TEC is nothing more than an expensive emollient at that pH. 😉 (Remind yourself of what it is….and what it is supposed to do.)

i saw such description that says use TEC at ph <5 , however i find other paper that says the ph of TEC is between 6 and 8 … actually i got effective deo using TEC and zinc oxide may the deodorant activity is from only Zinc oxide .

About the activity of TEC i guess may by application underarm the ph changes and TEC will be actif?

Umh…. TEC does not have pH. Typically when ingredients don’t have a measurable pH….they are added to water…and that reading is used. Congratulations !!!! You now know the pH of the water they added. TEC is an ester….the citric is bound…it takes lower pH’s….if you want any of it let go. Any result you got…was likely form other inputs.

        Good luck.

Hi, i have more of an opinion than a “solution”. People choose the cream/stick version of deo to avoid irritation from alcohol in sprays, and you want to make an alkaline potentially irritant cream deo :/ why? plus, lot of people don’t mind using deo cream with “powdery” finish, it makes them feel dry. i personally used to adore “Rexona” cream deo twist and apply it leaves white powder (silica) that feels good throughout the day and smells incredibly clean (and ruins dark shirts ;( )

i don’t want to make irritant deo for sure i want to kow the information what is the maximum ph in cream deo . For ph =8 is not necessary irritant.

Response to pH will be directly correlated to the individual. Some can handle higher pH….others cannot. You cannot paint that canvas with a broad brush!
