    As a cosmetics formulator, how would you articulate the difference(s) between Vitellaria Nilotica (Shea butter from East Africa) and Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea butter from West Africa), to your cosmetics ingredients buyer? Thank you.

    Just buy one or the other.

    You would just write it in the specification as to where the source must come from.  If there is some kind of measureable difference, you would write that in the specifications.

    The relative olein content in Nilotica  seems to make it softer for some cosmetic uses, but its cost is also higher. Products with Nilotica also seem to be more high-end (in the U.K at least) and I wonder if that is the reason.
