  Daily exfoliating ingredient in a hydrating face serum

  Hello.

  I am looking for a mild, non-irritating, common and affordable exfoliating ingredient to be used in a hydrating face serum projected to have a pH of 5.0.

  Would 2% Glycolic Acid be suitable?

  In my view exfoliation is always kinda irritation, no?

  Glycolic acid will not do much under high pH. What about enzymes (papain, bromelain)? They are usually used for sensitive skin or in summer products.

  Your best ingredients for this would be Polyhydroxy Acids: Gluconolactone, Mandelic Acid, Lactobionic Acid
