Can antioxidants absorb into skin?

If you mashed up some blueberries and rubbed on your face like a mask, would the antioxidants go into the skin? I guess the same could apply to vitamin serums.

    I'd say the question is not if it can, but to what layer and how long would it take, and why / for what purpose.
