Hair Mousse with CAPB

I am looking to formulate a leave-in hair mousse using Cocamidopropyl Betaine for its foaming properties. My test formula included 2%, but it did not have good foam. How much CAPB can be used in leave-in hair products? I have searched online but haven't been able to find anything.

  • 2% as supplied?
  • What does as supplied mean?  I just used 2% CAPB in the formula. Thanks!

CAPB is usually around 30% dilution. The rest is water with possible preservative ... That's what @ngarayeva001 meant by "as supplied".

If you add 2% into formula, you'll have 0.6% of actual CAPB in finish product. Do you think it's enough to create a foam? :)

What @Paprik said...and to answer the original question: no limit to CAPB 30% in rinse-off products, not that you'd need to use more than 20% of it in anything.

  • Bring it up at least to 2% ASM.
  • Thank you all, I will try that!
