Mild cleansing sulphate free shampoo

Hello, I'm glad to be here.
I need help formulating a mild cleansing sulphate free shampoo for kinku curly hair and I also want it to have enough lather.

I am only assecible to these surfactants: Cocamidoproply betaine, SCI, coco glucoside, capryl glucoside, decyl glucoside.

Due to price, i can only choose 2 out of these. Which 2 blend do you think will work best, and still give enough lather or must I use 3?

2. I also need a thickening agent, will xanthan gum work? And at what percentage?

Or should i use guar gum and poly quat 10? At what percentages?

Thank you.

  • I am by no means an expert in formulating haircare but coco glucoside and cocamidopropyl betaine are mild surfactants. A blend of surfactants will typically make a surfactant gentle and mild.

SCI is a powdered/noodle surfactant and I am not sure if it can be used in a liquid formulation.

I am not sure about xantham gum or guar gum but, if they can be used in a surfactant system, I imagine it will be at a low %

    Hope this helps a bit.

Thank you. Will there be lather from the cocamidoproply betaine and coco glucoside blend?
