    Hello,
I’m making a prototype shave gel (texture of a body wash to be dispensed from a pump) similar to texture of Aesop Shave Serum. I have sodium stearate in this formula because of the dense creamy foam/lather it really produces. Sodium Stearate can dissolve in propandiol or hot water phase at 80c.
pH is 9 but I need to reduce it to be 5.5 to accommodate preservative.

I’m experimenting with propandiol instead of glycerin, this go around.

What can I use to reduce ph9 to 5?

Citric acid 1% broke the gel.

    Sodium citrate raises ph?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    FORMULA

    water 22.7%

    siligel 1

    sorbitol 0.5

    1,3 propandiol 10

    saccharide isomerate 0.5

    coco glucoside 25

    decyl 10

    coco betaine (natural) 25

    bisabolol 0.5

    oat extract 0.5

    prebiotic (inulin) 0.5

    essential oils 1

    preservative: Euxyl K903 0.8

Impossible to have sodium stearate at that pH. Sorry. You made the issue even worse by using that preservative.

    The stearate was 2.5%.

I changed presev to Benzyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Caprylate, Glyceryl Undecylenate (which has ph range 4 to 8) with Dermosoft eco 1388 plus Dermosoft 688 to boost antifungal.

Thanks again for your feedback @Belassi
