  • Removing glycerin from this formula - any concerns?

    Hi guys,
I have a formula for a foaming wash (passed all the tests) but now I’m thinking to remove glycerin (one of the vendors has a strong opinion against it). Any concerns? Should I increase propanediol?

    • Water (76%)
    • Sodium cocoyl glycinate, Sodium lauroamphoacetate, Cocamidopropyl Sultaine (14%).
    • Alpha-glucan oligosaccharide & Inulin (2%).
    • Glycerin (3%)
    • Leuconostoc/radish root ferment filtrate (3%)
    • Propanediol (3%)
    • Phytic acid (<1%)
    • Citric acid (<1%)
Obviously, will test at the lab but wanted to see if there any known concerns why it wouldn’t be a good idea.

If you want something very close and be on the safe side; sure, switch it with propanediol (which has a better anti-microbial boosting capacity than glycerol). On the other hand, does 3% glycerol do anything at all in your formula?

Thanks, @Pharma! Well, it is a moisturizer and it does give a bit of a viscosity boost IMHO, but then I haven’t seen how it feels without it, perhaps the difference is negligible.
