I use capric/caprylic triglyceride and squalane oil mix as a moisturiser to avoid preservatives and other ingredients my skin is allergic to and I am looking to add vitamin E and I wondered if any one had advice on this.
My first question is related to the type of vitamin E to use. The research shows the natural vitamin E is the best for you - d-alpha tocopherol. However, I have read that it is unstable so some recommend using the synthetic version. Would adding d-alpha tocopherol oil to a apric/caprylic triglyceride and squalane oil mix be problematic?
And my second question is about the amount to use. Most people use it at about 1% but I have seen some recommend it at 5-10% and some places say it can be used pure on the skin. I can't find any research on what level is best so does anyone have any advice on this?
Thank you

You should be fine with 1% ... Tocopherol is quite sticky, so the skin sensorials above 1% might get rather unpleasant. There are 3 types, Tocopherol Acetate, Mixed Tocopherols and Tocotrienols. I generally prefer Tocotrienols. You can purchase from J Edwards Intl.

As this vitamin E is for your own purposes, may I suggest that you buy softgel capsules of the material. You can open them with a pin and squeeze out the contents to use as you wish - direct application of dilution of small quantities in your moisturiser blend. Doing this will avoid any problems with oxidation on storage of free oil and is a convenient and low cost way of buying the material.
I came across this https://www.cherirnatura.co.uk/collections/raw-materials/products/100-pure-vitamin-e-oil and wondered what you thought?
