    Hi to all. I recently joined this group. All the discussion at this forum really worth. Actually I want to get method for determination of TFM value for shaving foam and gels. The method for shaving cream is not working for gels or foams.

    I think the reason you’re not getting a reply is because TFM is not a known abbreivation to us. I personally don’t know what it stands for.

    Sorry for using short form. TFM stands for Total Fatty Matter

    I’m curious - how is this relevant to the performance of the shaving foam/gel? Also, why can’t this simply be calculated from the formula?

    Thanx for this valuable reply. But for the purpose of comparison between two products. This parameter may be one of the guiding factor for a formulation.

    OK, but you’re basically assaying for the amount of soap in a product. How much more does this tell you than doing a water content determination would?

    Can anyone pls suggest a method for determination of chloride content in Syndet bar.
