Hard water shampoo

Hi everyone. Can you please suggest what all points to consider when formulating a shampoo for hard water conditions. Do we need to increase the percentage of chelating ingredients or a clarifying shampoo would work fine for this purpose?

  • @shivani The main risk of hard water is for your product, especially if you have highly charged anionic surfactants (like Sodium lauryl sulfate). You could use a bit more that usual of your chelating agent. Sometimes mixtures of chelants work synergistically.
  • SLES is ok in hard and soft water.

INCREASE the chelating agent as you already surmised. Tetrasodium EDTA? Double or triple it. Easiest solution is often the obvious one.
