    Hi,

I want to remove the kathon from shower gel formula and substitue another perservative. In conjunction to the kathon, shower gel has phenoxyethanol. I know this alone is not enough.

One potential replacement  was Thor SBB, which is a mixture of benzyl alcohol, benzyl acid and sorbic acid. The benzyl alcphol content is to high for my liking so need to find another substitute perservative that will work well with the phenoxyethanol.

Can anyone suggest something that will work well phenoxyethanol?

    Thanks you.

@befremovska Although no issues in replacing the preservative, may I ask the reason for the replacement if you don’t mind.

I have had success with replacing Kathon CG with Euxyl K701 (Phenoxyethanol
Benzoic Acid, Dehydroacetic Acid, Ethylhexylglycerin) for some of my products with pH <6 and no ethoxylated surfactants. I also have used Phenostat (Caprylhydroxamic Acid, Phenoxyethanol, Methylpropanediol) for a surfactant product with a pH just over 6.

    Hope this helps.
