Home Cosmetic Science Talk Formulating General Essential oils in the freezer

  • Essential oils in the freezer

I have essential oils  and fragrance oils that I am not using much. Is it safe to put them in a freezer? If it is, what sort of container should they be in?  They are currently in glass amber jars.

I am not using essential oils for anything other than their fragrance, as long as the fragrance remains intact, I’m happy.
Also, it doesn’t matter to me whether or not they actually freeze, I just wish to extend their shelf life and NOT lose the scent. I cannot get nitrogen gas to ‘gas them’, so that’s not an option for me :(
    Thanks for your thoughts.

Some essential oils may separate in the freezer. Just put them in refrigerator.

I don’t quite have enough room in a fridge, so I thought our freezer would be an option. I’ll see about rearranging things in our fridge.

      Thanks for the tip.
