Colors in Cosmetics

Did you know that of all the chemicals used in cosmetics, the most highly regulated is Colors?  In fact, the FDA specifies the allowable ingredients for coloring cosmetics. If it is not on the list of approved colorants it is illegal to use a colorant in a cosmetic produced for the United States market.  Colors are similarly regulated in the EU, Japan and around the world.  If you’re making cosmetics be sure you know the legality of the colors that you are using.  And remember, just because something is natural does not mean it’s legal to use.
