    Good Evening Perry,

I had another question, I realized that the white specks in my pressed eyeshadow is from the ingredients not being grinding properly. Do you have any suggestion as to what I can use to grind the powder without the white speck showing?

    Thank you!

I'd suggest you post this question as a general discussion. There are a few color chemists on the forum who may be able to give better suggestions than me. Also, describe how you are grinding currently.

      Perry,
Is it possible to make your own eyeshadows in the comfort of your own home? I have read a lot of article and blogs that state it is a 50/50. Granted we have the right equipment to make pressed eyeshadow. Your thoughts?

I had a couple questions regarding pressed eyeshadows, My current base for my eyeshadows are as followed...
Mica, Calcium Carbonate, Zinc Stearate, Kaolin Clay, Silicon Dioxide, Allantoin, Carnauba Wax.

The binder that I use contains....
Isopropyl Myristate, Dimethicone, Bis-Vinyl Dimethicone/Dimethicone Copolymer.

When I press the eyeshadows into the pans, they press nicely but when I to pick up some of the press powder from the pan with a makeup brush. I noticed that there is a lot of fall out. I am not quite sure why, Do you have any suggestions as to what I need to do to fix this?

Also as I grind the powders together, I have noticed that when I press the eyeshadow into the pan there are little white specks. How can I fix this?

    Thank you!

You need specialized equipment to make pressed powders. Like a press that can produce over 3000 lbs/in^2 amount of force. It is not possible to hand press a powder product like that and have it stay together.
