Hi, I’m thinking of formulating a lightweight gel moisturizer for oily, acne-prone skin and I’d like to incorporate some form of occlusive ingredient/s in it to help prevent TEWL (plant oils and butters are out of the question). Any idea what I can add and what emulsifier could be used to disperse the small oil phase into the water phase?

This is so subjective, it would be hard to say. What are you looking for most in an ester?

Occlusives. Something that would replace a plant oil, butter or wax and prevent trans-epidermal water loss.
