How much silicone is too much for shampoo?

Is 1.5% or 2% too much?
3%?
What happens when silicone becomes too much?

I'll use amodimethicone instead of dimethicone or dimethiconol both for better substantivity to hair, and to minimize foam reduction.

The formula will be something like
SLES 8% active (other, milder versions will have Sodium lauroyl sarcosinate instead of SLES)
CAPB 3% active
Lauramide DEA 0.5%
Polyquaternium-10 0.5%
Polyquaternium-7 0.096% active
Euperlan PK-771 pearlizer 3%
Thickened with either BCARE 3645 or <1% salt

"Too much" is really defined by you.  But I would say you've used too much when it too significantly negatively affects...

    1.  Foam
    2.  Feel
    3.  Hair volume
    4.  Stability
    5.  Cost

I'd add that if you can't tell a difference between 1.5% and 2% then you are better off choosing 1.5%
  • Too much is when my customer complains about the price, oily hair or bubbles. Or when my formula breaks down...
