  • Natural/Organic gel eyeliner not drying

    I am having issues with a gel eyeliner not drying and creating smudges after 15-20 minutes.  Any ideas on a natural/organic material to use?  Below are the appox values and formula.

    1 ROSA
    CANINA SEED OIL 
    0.5 CARNAUBA WAX  
    5 BIS-DIGLYCERYL
    POLYACYLADIPATE-2
    5 SILICA
    0.5 CANDELILLA WAX
    0.5 YELLOW IRON OXIDES CI

    30 BLACK IRON

    Your formulation is about 70% oils so it’s surprising that it’s not drying. What is your bench mark? What is the list of ingredients your starting from?

    The product I’m developing can’t have coconut and must have that ‘gel’ like rheology.  So it can be scooped out of the small pod easily and it’s not like a balm.

    Have you tried simply increasing the amount of wax? How is the texture currently?

    Also, what’s natural to your brand? We generally need a lot of information before we can be helpful because we need to understand everything about the product via text before we can make helpful recommendations.

    It’s a balm not a gel. I don’t see any reason why it doesn’t smudge (no film formers). Have you tested the benchmark? I am quite sure it smudges too.
