Hi all I’m new here so bare with me.
I’m based in Scotland, I have my own company where we make various formulations for commercial and personal uses.
I’ve been asked to make a suspension chalk.
What we have produced is ok using a mix of glycerin, water and 20% chalk.

We have now been asked to modify it to include a wetting agent.
im also keen at this point to make the product cheaper.
Any ideas, needs to be low chloride, keep chalk powder in suspension, include wetting agent plus have a non foamed or low foaming nature.

    appreciate the help

    thanks

I’d suggest hydroxypropyl guar (cheap as long as the frackers are not using) or even technical grade xanthan gum to suspend that much chalk.  Rule out carbomers, since even though calcium carbonate has slight solubility in water, divalent ions will crash. What surfactant to use (“wetting agent”) all depends on your application. When in doubt, use a nonionic, e.g. polysorbate 60.
