Wondering if it’s likely feasible to replace 0.5% Sclerotium Gum in a fairly standard OIW emulsion with 20% lipids and Montanov 82 as the prime emulsifier.

Sclerotium Gum works fine, but perhaps 1% High Molecular Weight Hyaluronic Acid could do the trick also and possibly add hydration benefits, definitely juicing up the label and formula cost - but how to best incorporate it?

    1. Premix with glycerin, add to hot water phase under high shear blending until it gels e.g. 5 minutes, then add hot oil phase and emulsify? Could this impair emulsification?

    2. Premix with glycerin, add to finished emulsion after cooldown, continue high shear mixing until it gels, e.g. 5 minutes.

Let me know if you have suggestions. I have a feeling HA will be less stable than SG, but it could be stable enough. Could also keep the SG in.
