    hi all,

can i add polysorbate 60 to water and disperse iron oxide pigments along with titanium? and it will act as thickening agent too for the water phase.. i’m formulating an o/w foundation and i’m using glyceryl stearate and PEG-100 stearate as my main emulsifier

    thank you

If you want useful answers, it would help if you listed all your ingredients.  No, Polysorbate will not act as a thickener.

    okay perry,

    water phase
    glycerin
    polysorbate 60
    iron oxide pigments
    tio2
    mica

    oil phase
    glyceryl stearate and PEG-100 stearate
    Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride
    preservative
    fragrance

what should i use as a thickening agent then? i thought polysorbate can thicken the emulsion so that it can suspend the pigments

polysorbate allowed me to disperse dry pigments in water directly
