    Good afternoon,
    Does the cost for this preservative Methylisothiazolinone make sense to you, for USA?

    1 x 10kg
    = $5,400 ($ 0.54/gm)
        244.90 $/lb
    1 x 20kg = $8,600 ($ 0.43/gm)     195.01 $/lb
    1 x 40kg = $12,400
    ($0.31/gm)
        140.59 $/lb

    Supplied as 50% aqueous
    solution.

    The true cost will be when your customers sue you. That is a horrible preservative.

    @Belassi
    It might  be a “horrible” preservative when you are using it in cosmetic. However, I am not. That’s not the intent for this product.
    If you actually have some direct information regarding my question about cost I would appreciate that. Thank you.

    When I worked at a large company, we bought it for ~$15 a pound. Of course, that was 20 years ago but the prices you list still seem a bit high.

    @Perry
    Thank you very much. I am kind of stunned by these prices!

    And I thought isothiazolinones were of the cheaper kind. That is pricey!

    I think the high prices are due to the high methylisothiazolinone content (50%). By comparison a preservative like Kathon CG is only 1.5% total actives (a mix of MCI and MI) which is a very cheap preservative.

    Yeah, you only need to use like 0.02%
