Experience using Nipaguard Zero preservatives

I'm researching several of the preservatives in Clariant's Nipaguard Zero line and am curious if anyone out there has experience formulating with these preservatives in either surfactant-based products or oil-in-water emulsions.

The blends I'm most interested in are Nipaguard SCE (Sorbitan Caprylate, Propanediol, Benzoic Acid) and Nipaguard SCA (Sorbitan Caprylate, Benzyl Alcohol). Nipaguard SCE is listed as effective up to pH 6.5 in leave-on formulations and at low pH in rinse-off formulations. I'm confused by this differentiation between the preservative's efficacy in certain pH ranges based on whether it's in a leave-on or rinse-off product. I would appreciate an explanation or any other insights you could offer! Thanks!

  • Sorbitan Caprylate may cause color changes I believe if you are trying to use in a clear/colorless formulation
