Hello. I was wondering if anybody knew what % of this has to be used in a shampoo/conditioner for it to be used as a preservative? I read normal use at 1-7% but can be used up to 40%. Nothing online about how much to use as a preservative. I’m using it as a softener…mixed messages about whether it’s an emulsifier or not….

It is not a preservative. It is not an emulsifier either. It is an emollient. Helps detangling, provides slip, thickens. Used in conditioners. About 4% typical.

It’s a co-emulsifier but won’t be much good on its own.  It also provides opacity & thickness to formulas. It is not a preservative.
