Home Cosmetic Science Talk Formulating General Expiration date of bottled water

  • Expiration date of bottled water

    I have 5 ltr jerrycans with distilled and deionized water.
    I’m still not sure how long I can keep using these after opening.
    At work we throw the rest away at the end of the day (purified water - which we use for both sterile and non-sterile preparations).
    I hope I can use this a bit longer, as I don’t use 5 ltrs a day!

    Any suggestions?

    As long as you put the lid back on, I imagine you could use it until it is gone.

    What are you going to make?.

    You can boil it before using it.

    @Perry
    Ok, thanks! :)

    @DAS
    I use it for all my water containing formulas and to prepare buffer solution for the pH meter.
    I never boil the water nor do I heat & hold. Do you?

    Only if I use filtered tap water.

    If you want to prevent contamination you can use this

    @DAS
    Ok, thanks for the tip.

    With purified water I meant sterilised and filtered water (no pyrogens, suitable for injections).
