Where is the emulsifier? — Cosmetic Science Talk

Where is the emulsifier?

This is a styling product and i know that when you mix water and oil you have to use an emulsifier but i cant seem to find it on this product. 

I have been seen a few of these styler without a emulsifier that I can recognize. 

Aqua (Purified Water), Glycerin, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Leaf Juice, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Seed Oil, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Extract, Betula Alba (Birch) Bark Extract, Cholecalciferol (Vitamin D), Citric Acid, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Althaea Officinalis (Marshmallow) Root, Biotin, Thymus Serpillum Extract, Urtica Dioica (Nettle) Extract, Malva Sylvestris (Mallow) Flower Extract, Hypericum Perforatum (St. John's Wort) Extract, Tussilago Farfara (Coltsfoot) Extract, Thymus Vulgaris (Thyme) Extract, Salvia Officinalis (Sage) Leaf Extract, Clary Sage (Salvia Sclarea) Extract, Achillea Millefolium (Yarrow) Extract, Equisetum Arvense Extract, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Caprylyl Glycol, Sorbic Acid


  • Incomplete ingredients list, unless one remote possibility: ultrasonic emulsification. Furthermore the preservative spec. is not really adequate. Unless perhaps there is a huge amount of glycerine in it. This looks like some kind of crap from ETSY.

  • This ingredients list is from a US based company and this is not the first product that I have seen with missing information for other companies

  • Yes I have also noticed obviously incomplete labels. By the way can you say which product this is?

    whoever has supplied them with the formula has either a) made a complete hash of compiling the list, or b) has tried to keep the exact formula secret, deliberately missed out key ingredients, and gambled on the fact unless they're cosmetic chemists, most people wouldn't notice that the list is incomplete

    it's not legal at all, but unfortunately it's very common practise

    also, I noticed there's apparently no wax, or fixative resin in it either
    UK based formulation chemist. Strongest subjects: hair styling, hair bleaches, hair dyes (oxidative and non-oxidative) I know some stuff about: EU regulations, emulsions (O/W and W/O), toothpaste, mouthwash, shampoos, other toiletries
